Science Syllabus
Course Description:
This is a general study of Life Science; the study of living things. Students will be exposed to the characteristics, processes, classification, and interactions of living things. Students will be involved in general learning skills of observation, reasoning, analyzing data, various experimental techniques and communication.
Text Book: McDougal Littell Life Science
Materials:
Computer, paper, pen or pencil
State Standards
7th Grade will be testing State Standards:
8.4.1 – By the end of eighth grade, students will develop an
understanding of the structure and function in living systems.
8.4.2- By the end of eighth grade, students will develop an
understanding of reproduction and heredity.
8.4.3 – By the end of eighth grade, students will develop an
understanding of regulation and behavior.

2. Life’s Structures and Functions (Classifying, Cells, Cell processes, Cell
reproduction, and Heredity)
3. Bacteria and Viruses
4. Animals (Compare Invertebrates and Vertebrates, Dissecting)
5. Plants (Seedless and seed, Plant Reproduction, Plant Processes)
6. Protists and Fungi
7. Science Fair
8. Classification
9. Scientist Hall of Fame (Research Paper)
10. Adaptations, Regulations and Behaviors
Homework
The assignment is due on the due date.
If it is not completed at all it will result in a ZAP.
If it is incomplete they will get the grade that they earned, however they will stay in after school to finish the rest of the work.
*** NO EXTRA CREDIT IS GIVEN***
Most of the time students will be given time in class to work on their assignments. Assignments should not take more than 15-20 minutes for MOST students.
Students will have a weekly L-J quiz.
Classroom Management/Discipline:
